Statement
of Agreement
We
agree to the following:
1.
We are solely responsible for the choice and purchase of curriculum.
2. We will submit attendance/progress reports due on January 15 and
June 15.
3. We will maintain student files for each child containing progress
reports and attendance records.
4. We release Excalibur school administrators and representatives
from all responsibility for and liability resulting from the education
and social and physical wellbeing of our children..
5. We have read the Parent Guide and Policy
Statement and will follow its requirements.
6. We have read the Excalibur Christian School
Code of Conduct. We understand that the intent of the guidelines
is to help us understand those things that are offensive to others
in the group and will follow its intent and spirit to honor all the
members of Excalibur. We understand that the Administrator or designated
staff member(s) will have final authority on the acceptability of
conduct at all school or school related events. See paragraph 9 below.
7. We have read the Christian Community
Statement of Faith and will conduct ourselves in a manner that
will honor it. This does not mean that you must adhere to the statement
of faith as a confession of your personal faith, but that you must
respect it as the statement of faith that guides Excalibur, that you
will not attempt to undermine that statement of faith by deprecating
it to others, and that you will not attempt to introduce doctrines
contrary to that statement of faith outside of a proper context. A
proper context would be defined as adult-with-adult discussion, or
student in class debate, when proper.) If any element of the Statement
of Faith needs clarification, Excalibur families are encouraged to
contact one of the Elders of Christian Community. We again refer you
to Paragraph 9 below if there is any violation of this provision.
The administrator, under the advisement of the School Board, solely
determines violations.
8. We understand that state truancy laws require adult supervision
of students during regular school hours.
9. We agree that our continued enrollment in Excalibur is a privilege
and may be discontinued at the discretion of the administrator of
Excalibur
10. We will notify Excalibur in writing if we wish to change schools.

Parent Guide and Policy Statement
1.
Number of days required: Though state law stipulates
a 180-day school year for public and private schools, no requirement
exists for church schools. We have elected to leave this to the discretion
of the parent/teacher. However, since you are required to maintain an
attendance record listing all absences, we do recommend that you establish
an attendance policy.
2.
Progress reports: Although not mandated by law, this
is a valuable accountability tool that will assist you in keeping meaningful
records of your child’s education, especially during the high
school years. We request a general plan at the beginning of the school
year for first year homeschoolers. Help with curriculum is available.
Progress reports for all students are due on January 15 and June 15.
A late fee of $10.00 will apply after those dates. Failure to turn in
progress reports will prevent reenrollment.
3. Diplomas: Excalibur issues high school diplomas
to those who have completed at least their senior year in its program.
State requirements are the basis for this diploma and are set forth
in detail in another section.
4.
Code of Conduct: We ask that all show deference to
other members of the group in areas of dress, music, and language as
seen in our Code of Conduct guidelines. This is a Christian ministry
that may include non-Christians who join us is our desire to build character
and relationships, so we ask that for group events thought is given
to how each of us can build each other up without drawing undue attention
to ourselves.
5.
Dating: Excalibur does not believe that dating is God’s
plan for finding a life mate nor for learning how to socialize with
the opposite sex. As such we do not encourage dating for students who
are enrolled in Excalibur nor do we believe that flirting or pairing
off is suitable behavior among students. During events sponsored or
supported by Excalibur, we will not permit any pairing off or intimate
contact by unmarried Excalibur members or their guests with non-family
members. The Administrator or designated staff member(s) will have final
authority on the acceptability of conduct at all school or school related
events.
6.
School year: Our academic school year begins August
1 and ends May 31. Enrollment is open year round.
7.
Changing schools: The law requires us to notify the
local public school administration if there is any change in a child’s
enrollment status. Therefore, we ask that you notify the administrator
in writing if you enroll in another school during the enrollment period.
8.
Statement of Faith: Excalibur is operated as a ministry
arm of Christian Community church and as such we ask you to conduct
yourselves in a manner that honors the Christian Community Statement
of Faith.
9.
Disenrollment: At the administrator’s discretion
a family may be disenrolled in order to maintain the peace and harmony
of the school.

Some of us may have
learned to read just by having books read to us as a child. Most however,
needed some instruction and modeling as well as constant practice in
order to master the various skills necessary to comprehend well. We
have found that character development is the same. It usually needs
to be carefully taught and modeled.
Group
Standards
We believe in the family as the foundation for all socialization,
including boy/girl relationships of all ages, and expect that each family
will supervise their children in that area. We also find that as families
meet together, a healthy environment for interacting with others, both
older and younger, is created.
We encourage
students to devote their youth to the Lord and their families. In keeping
with this, our policy for all events is no pairing off of unmarried
couples or flirtatious behavior.
Love
and respect for others is Jesus’ prescription for successful relationships.
Some ways we work on that in Excalibur are by encouraging enthusiasm,
gratefulness, obedience and attentiveness in actions and speech. No
swearing or inappropriate language will be tolerated.
Dress
for Success
Character is displayed in appropriate dress. This area
is a vital training ground for many of the qualities Excalibur parents
want to instill in their young people. To aid all of our families, the
following are keys to understanding the spirit of our dress code.
1.
Modesty should be the goal for both girls and boys. Clothing should
draw attention to a cheerful, engaging countenance instead of providing
eye traps.
2. Deference for others is shown by avoiding styles that give rise to
temptation or judgmental attitudes in others. This includes but is not
limited to tattoos, inappropriate jewelry or hairstyles, and emblems
of rebellion.
3. Creativity is necessary to express oneself tastefully while honoring
the Creator.
4. Personal and group discipline and self-control are enhanced by conservative
clothing.
General
guidelines include the following:
1.
Boys must wear pants or long shorts which fit at the waist and are not
excessively baggy. If dressy casual is requested for certain events,
collared shirts and slacks or khakis (no carpenter pants or jeans) are
appropriate.
2. Girls must wear modest tops or dresses with some type of sleeve.
The midriff area must be covered at all times. Dresses, skirts and pants
should not be tight and should be at least knee-length, including slits.
Shorts worn for sporting occasions or other outdoor events must be at
least mid-thigh in length.
3.
The Administrator or designated staff member(s) will have final authority
on the acceptability of conduct and dress at all school or school related
events. Please see paragraph 9 of the Parent Guide and Policy Statement.

STATEMENT OF FAITH
We
Believe:
1.The
Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of
God, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and
the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.
2.In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally
existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3.That Jesus is true God and true man, having been conceived of the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice
for our sins to fulfill the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from
the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty
on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. He will return at the
end of the age to judge the dead and the living.
4.That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus
Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing
sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly
living and service.
5.That man was created in the image of God, but rebelled against his
Creator and, therefore, died spiritually. Only through repentance and
regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation be obtained and spiritual
life regained.
6.That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the
only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and
only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and, thus,
become children of God.
7.That water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be
observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not
to be regarded as a means of salvation.
8.That the true Church is composed of all such persons who through faith
in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united
together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head.
9.In the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting
blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and
everlasting punishment.
